Dr Vidya Sasikumar holds a PhD from University of Kerala. Her research examined representation of women in Arab and Persian films. She has over six years of teaching experience in higher education. She has taught Film Studies, Postcolonial Studies, and Dalit Studies. She also teaches Cinema and the Nation and Visual Culture studies. Her specialization lies in Film Studies and Visual Culture. Her research interests include Subaltern Studies and Memory Studies. She also studies self writings and marginalized representations in media. She examines how narratives shape identity, ecology, and historical understanding. Her work reflects strong engagement with cultural and visual analysis. She has published articles on cinema and its societal connections. Her research highlights intersections between film, literature, and culture. She engages in reading, travel, and photography beyond academic work.
