The Department of Tourism Studies was established in 1999, dedicated to the motto of excellence and service. The Department is committed for the overall development of an individual through academic excellence, professional competence, personal, interpersonal and societal skills. Christ University became the premier educational institute in Karnataka to introduce a two-year Post-graduate Programme in Tourism Studies- Master of Tourism and Travel management (MTTM). Presently, the Discipline of Tourism Studies is part of School of Business Studies and Social Sciences, Christ University – Bannerghatta Road Campus, Bengaluru. With a focus on Greater Academia and stronger Industry Relations, the Discipline gives emphasis on Research and development. It also offers Ph.D., and BBA (Tourism and Travel Management) courses. The School of Business Studies and Social Sciences is an IATA/UFTAA Authorized Training Centre for international travel and tourism training programmes. Driven with a strong and sound set of core values, the Discipline has always endeavored to empower students to face the challenges in the rapidly growing travel, tourism and hospitality industry. The Discipline imparts training in tourism and travel industry management and related areas. It provides opportunities to students to connect with various Bodies and Associations within the tourism industry in such a way that they are equipped professionally in the vocation of tourism. The Discipline also undertakes educational programmes and organizes courses of study, lectures, seminars, workshops, symposia and conferences to prepare the students to meet the requirements of tourism industry. The Discipline offers guidance and directions to other institutions in the country and coordinates with them, so as to develop uniform and adequate standards of courses of instruction. | |

Introduction to Program: | |
The Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism and Travel Management), an undergraduate degree specialized in travel, tourism and hospitality industry was started in 2002. This program is an intensive and comprehensive program spread over three years. The dynamic curriculum design of the program prepares students to adapt to the demands and face the challenges of today’s tourism and travel industry. The program also lays strong emphasis on communication, customer relations and service. The program has both theory and skill development part of the syllabus. Teaching includes lectures and other forms of extension such as presentations, discussions, brainstorming, demonstrations and field visits. The program has a strong Institute and Industry Interface through guest talks, seminars, panel discussions etc. | |
