The CCHS team came up with many initiatives to overcome the challenges of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown on student life. Support services were offered in online mode and the students were never allowed to feel disconnected.

Personal Counselling Services

Online counselling sessions were offered using Zoom, Webex, WhatsApp etc. Lockdown effects and coping strategies was a major focus area. Sending positive/motivational weekly e-mailers to staff and students titled ‘Christite Vibes’. Constant outreach via emails/phone to sustain the connect in off campus scenario.

Online Peer Education open elective course

This was the only open elective that was offered through the University during the lockdown. The course content and delivery was redesigned to suit online format. Mentor meetings and classroom sessions were continued in the online format.

Financial/Technical Support

Students from underserved regions/families faced many issues on the financial and technical front. To support such students, the counselors worked with the Office of Student Services to grant technological/financial aid. Laptops, tablets, data pack subscriptions, fee concessions, scholarships were offered to select students.

Online Parent Meeting

The centre organises two parent meetings every academic year between parents and faculty including Deans, Heads of Departments, the Registrar and the Vice-Chancellor. These dynamic and interactive sessions are aimed at exchanging ideas and collecting constructive feedback, if any, from the parent community, with the goal of enhancing the overall experience of the student. The online meeting for the Odd semester (2020-21) was conducted successfully with active participation by parents on Zoom app.

Online Psycho-Social Education

The classroom sessions for 1st year UG students were conducted using platforms like Webex and Google Classroom. These sessions helped in building rapport with students, and also in sharing topics relevant to coping with the pandemic-led challenges. Online Staff Development sessions for non-teaching staff.

As an outreach for non-teaching staff, the counsellors created interactive sessions on topics like Resilience, Emotions, Tips To Improve The Way We Think.
