Course Description
This course will give students an insight into disability, handicap and impairments, stigma and myths of mental illness, legislations for disability, treatment methods in psychiatry and rehabilitation models. Students will also gain an understanding of the types of available and effective models for psychosocial rehabilitation and will undergo basic skills training in these models. Emphasis will also be given to assessment in rehabilitation, case management and sensitization on ethics in psychosocial rehabilitation.
The methodology for this course will be structured through lectures, group discussions, field visits, individual presentations and screening of short movies on rehabilitation agencies. This course will be a good foundational course for those interested in higher academic pursuits or vocations in this field.
