Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) – FAST TRACK PROGRAMME

 

The Department of Computer science has introduced the fast track mode in the BCA programme in the academic year 2019 after the approval from the Board of Studies (BOS) and management.

Objectives:

  • This programme aims to provide the opportunity for the students to undergo experiential learning in real time project development.
  • To enable the students to take up project work / Internship in an industry on a full-time basis during their 6th semester.

Key Features of the Programme:

  • Students are allowed to complete few or all courses excluding the major project of 6th semester before the commencement of 6th Semester.
  • The Internship project shall be considered as major project of 6th Semester.
  • The ESE for the fast track students shall be conducted only during 6th Semester along with all the other regular students of 6BCA.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Academic Performance: (a & b)
    1. Students having consistent performance with 60%  & above in SSLC and HSC
    2. Students having consistent performance with 65% & above in BCA in all previous semesters (I - IV) and do not have any arrears up to 4th semester.
  2. Attendance Percentage: Students maintaining consistent attendance of 85% and above in all previous semesters (I -  III).
  3. Mandatory Internship with stipend and shall be permitted only in the organizations located in Bangalore.

  • Announcement and the selection process shall take place during the last month of the academic year in the 4th semester of BCA programme.
  • Student those who are provisionally selected for the fast track programme must have completed their second year without any backlog. Candidate has to discontinue from the fast track programme, if they fail in any course in their 4th semester or 5th semeseter.
  • All the candidates in the fast track programme have to submit their internship appointment letter during the first week of the final semester.
  • The decision of the Head of the Department is the final for the selection and approval of candidates for the fast track programme.

Bachelor of Computer Applications is a 3-year undergraduate programme. It is extended over six semesters. Applicants may apply for the programme from 8th December 2023. Applications will be available online on the University website www.christuniversity.in till the date applications officially close.

Applications for each programme will close approximately a week before the scheduled selection process.

All applicants must visit the page: https://appstat.christuniversity.in and register by entering NAME (as printed on Class 10 Marks Card), EMAIL-ID and set a password.  (The email id and mobile number provided will be used for sending confirmation and application status-update messages). An applicant can apply for as many programmes using the same ID as long as the prescribed eligibility criteria for the specific programme is fulfilled.

Applicants must have the following documents before filling the application online:

  • Copy of statement of marks of Class 10, Class 11/ 12, (Mandatory).
  • Fill in all the details in the “detailed application” page. Scan and upload a recent passport size photograph (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms formal dress with white background) and click “Submit”. On clicking Submit, a viewable and editable page will appear on the screen. In case you need to make any corrections; you may edit the data/details and then click “Confirm Submission”.
  • Make payment using a card and after successful payment, click on submit. A 9 (Nine) digit Application number will be generated. If unable to print the application form due to system/power/internet failure, logon to https://appstat.christuniversity.in, under the “Application Status” page enter the registered Email-ID and password to view and print the application form. (After payment if you do not receive the 9 (Nine) digit application number, then your application process is incomplete, and payment will go in for refund process. The refund will take about 15 days and must be checked with your bank).

Candidates falling under any of the below mentioned categories must apply under the International Student Category:

  1. Foreign citizens,   
  2. PIO card holders and   
  3. OCI (Dual Citizens)

International students coming from Non-English speaking countries should:

  • produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination in English medium or   
  • have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for

  • Intensive Certificate course in English Language (Full Time) conducted from March to May each year or   
  • One Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.

Note: The International Student category fee structure is binding for the full duration of the programme and cannot be transferred /changed in between.

Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.

Students are welcome to apply under the Non Resident Indian category for the programmes offered by the University

Students who fall under any of the following classifications can apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the programme

1. NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law

2. Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.

3. Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.

4. Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India..

5. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;
   5.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
   5.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under NRI category

 

Admission to all programmes is based on academic achievement and CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Selection Process. Candidates should submit the final results of class 12 on or before August 30th of the admission year.

Basic eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) from any recognised Board in India.

Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2024 may apply with their class X and XI marks.

Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:

Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.

Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels, grade not less than C.

The Department of Computer science has introduced the fast track mode in the BCA programme in the academic year 2019 after the approval from the Board of Studies (BOS) and management.

Objectives:

  • This programme aims to provide the opportunity for the students to undergo experiential learning in real time project development.
  • To enable the students to take up project work / Internship in an industry on a full-time basis during their 6th semester.

Key Features of the Programme:

  • Students are allowed to complete few or all courses excluding the major project of 6th semester before the commencement of 6th Semester.
  • The Internship project shall be considered as major project of 6th Semester.

# The fee for Karnataka domicile students, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.
 
It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for three years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.
 
1. NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).
 
2. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who;
    2.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
    2.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.
 
3. To claim the Indian / Karnataka category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India / Karnataka. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).
 
4. Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if applicable.
 
5. All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option:

Important Instructions

  • Read all Important Links (Eligibility, Documents requirements etc) thoroughly.
  • The date and time for the selection process are auto-generated by the system. Therefore, any request for changes will not be entertained.
  • A Google calendar invite will be sent to your registered email id, ONE day before the MP/PI selection process.
  • Candidates failing to appear for the selection process at the stipulated date and time will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • Candidates must show the original Government recognized photo identity card (Aadhar card/Passport/Voter ID/Recent College ID card) for attending the online selection process. Failing which the application will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • All original Class 10, Class 12, Degree Marks Card (Students pursuing their final year must have the statement of marks up to the previous semester/year) should be available for verification during the personal interview round.
  • It is recommended to login atleast 15mts before the scheduled time to avoid any last-minute technical glitches.
  • Impersonation or any suspicious behaviour (prompting by a third person or accessing notes/gadgets) will be treated as malpractice and the application will be termed as “Not Selected”.
  • The responsibility of satisfying the eligibility criteria for admission rests with the student/candidate. The issue of the E-Admit Card for the selection process does not imply that the eligibility criteria are satisfied.
