The Department is dedicated to promoting intellectual excellence by maintaining high academic standards with exceptional teaching and mentoring. It maintains a supportive and collaborative learning environment and ensures personal and professional development. The department has rendered academic expertise to several departments bringing the essence of interdisciplinarity in the curriculum. The department is known for its popular UG program viz. B.Sc. Psychology (Honours). The department offers a wide variety of courses along with Ph.D. guidance as well in collaboration with the Centre for Research.

The Department has a unique structure to cater to the interdisciplinary academic pursuit. The focus is to enable students’ branch out into the realms of different disciplines to have blended learning by primarily concentrating on the roots of the main discipline under study.
The Department runs a range of courses such as certificate courses, interdisciplinary courses, besides the undergraduate programs. Through these programs, students are encouraged to consider careers and missions that integrate the understanding of life. The courses integrate scholarship with professional practice and offer courses that are cutting edge in social science and science. It is a goal that students who complete these courses demonstrate high degrees of self-awareness, service orientation, and are encouraged to embrace humane values in their vocation.
The Department realizes its vision to promote high academic standards through a continuous and dynamic curriculum review process based on feedback from peers, professionals, potential employers, and students. A variety of student-centered teaching and learning pedagogies are practiced by the faculty members. Prominent among them is the use of seminars, experiential methodologies, laboratory training, conferences, workshops, field-based studies, film-based discussions, and interactions with field experts.

Having transitioned from aspiring to a medical career to pursuing psychology, I was initially apprehensive. However, Christ University stood out as one of the few leading institutions in India offering a BSc in psychology, allowing me to maintain my science background.
The curriculum was comprehensive and forward-thinking, with the unique inclusion of a module in artificial intelligence—a rarity in psychology programs across the country. This prepared me for future opportunities, blending traditional psychological theories with modern advancements.

The faculty were supportive in providing letters of recommendation, timely transcripts, and an array of extracurricular activities that significantly boosted my CV.
