The Department of Political Science and History at the BGR Campus began its academic journey at this campus in May 2016. With a vast variety of academic courses that have been tailor-made to provide a comprehensive and wholesome learning experience, the department aims to constantly engage and analyse issues of power, authority, governance and historical consciousness. Faculty members trained in institutions of various national and international repute, enable this and guide students with emphasis on perspective and having a fair view point.

Overview

The Department of Political Science and History intends on strengthening the critical acumen of students through an understanding of the Philosophy of Social Sciences in general. The focus lies in structuring a liberal environment with a firm foundation in academic inquiry. The Department stresses on the importance of research not only as a part of the syllabus and teaching-learning pedagogies but also encourages the same in all of its initiatives. The objective is to make the students responsible, accountable and active citizens, with a high level of academic integrity and sensitivity towards social justice and ecological sustainability.

from the HOD

The Department of Political Science and History has expanded the scope of studying political science and history by introducing critical and multi-disciplinary perspective. The experienced and highly qualified faculty members make the department academically stronger and futuristic in planning courses. The BA Political Science (Honors) programme has been designed to train students with recent political theoretical aspects from multiple disciplines to develop a holistic perspective. Our Undergraduate programmes are training students to develop critical thinking and with a focus on career and contribution towards the society.
The curricular and co-curricular activities are designed to strengthen students’ knowledge, skills and attitude. Academically well-equipped students’ of the department are contributing successfully in many fields ranging from civil service, academics, NGO’s, international organizations, MNCs, politics and many other fields. The expert faculty members’ intellectual intervention through their writings in research journals and popular media shows the rigorous knowledge creation in the department.
