It inculcates among its students a critical reading of the self, the society and the imagined with the aim of moulding them into responsible and socially sensitive citizens. The Department facilitates their holistic development by building emotional, academic, social, professional and global competencies. The Department aspires to create a nuanced understanding of canonical and non-canonical literary and cultural texts, their social milieu for an engaged and enduring understanding of life.

Overview

The Department promotes an intellectual climate of critical and creative ideation by inculcating among its students the habit of a critical reading of the word and the world alike. It has geared its academic engagements towards moulding students into responsible and socially sensitive citizens through programs that are designed to facilitate holistic development.

The academic programs offered by the Department are aligned with the University’s vision and mission. With programs offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and research levels, the core areas of inquiry range from domains in language and literature, to those in and around culture.

Programs currently offered include BA (Triple major), BA (Double major - NEP), BA English (Hons), BA (Liberal Arts), MA (English and Cultural Studies), MA (English with Communicaiton Studies) and PhD (Cultural Studies).

We are dedicated to our students' professional growth, providing mentoring, soft skills training, UGC NET/JRF coaching, and career guidance, along with support for research publications to empower meaningful contributions to academic discourse.
