The Department of Economics at CHRIST University was an incredibly welcoming space that played a pivotal role in my holistic development. The intellectually stimulating peer group constantly challenged me to grow, and the professors were friendly, approachable, and fostered meaningful learning experiences that extended well beyond the classroom. The research exposure I received including the opportunity to collaborate with distinguished professors on projects was truly invaluable. Additionally, the department’s thoughtfully designed curriculum which balanced traditional and heterodox economic subjects further deepened my academic foundation. This department has truly shaped me into who I am today.

My time at Christ University, BGR campus, laid the foundation for everything I do today. I’m currently working as an Economist in Ireland, specialising in Infrastructure Economics, building economic appraisals for capital projects for the Irish Government.

Christ gave me the space to grow, both academically and as a leader. From co-heading SWO, being part of the Economics Committee, to participating and coordinating fests, every experience added to my growth. The supportive faculty encouraged both my academic and leadership pursuits, and nurtured my passion for real-world economics. I’m truly grateful to the BGR Economics Department for shaping my critical thinking and career path.

My time at CHRIST University was both challenging and transformative. The academic rigor and competitive environment constantly pushed me to grow, not just intellectually, but personally. What I found most valuable was how the program encouraged me to think beyond the classroom through interdisciplinary coursework, exposure to real-world issues, and a culture that demanded initiative. Faculty often urged us to explore research, community engagement, and collaborations outside the university. That environment inspired me to connect with individuals doing meaningful work in Bengaluru, eventually leading to experiences like the UN Millennium Fellowship and early research roles. I learned that resilience isn’t just about working harder - it’s about asking better questions, finding the right people, and staying open to what comes next. These lessons continue to shape my path, as I now begin a PhD candidacy in Economics in Washington DC.

They say you will always learn when you ask questions, be it an easy, straightforward question or something complicated. The Department of Economics, throughout the subjects and electives I took, always created an environment for me to ask questions. Asking questions shows that you are eager to learn.
The department will enable you to have relevant skills and teach you work ethics while working on your CIAs. One might not realize it then, but once you do join your workplace, you will see your skills in play.

All of this certainly enabled me to always be curious and deliver on time-bound tasks, which contributed when I joined the corporate world.

The Department of Economics at Christ University gave me a platform to explore the dynamics of economics in its true sense. The variety of courses, ranging from financial economics to gender economics - helped me in narrowing down my area of interest. The academic energy of the Institution motivates a student to give their best in everything they pursue. Additionally, being a member of CSA, CAPS, and the departmental economics association, I found that the extracurricular activities pushed me to multitask and develop a well-rounded skill set. Christ University truly helped me grow, both academically and personally, preparing me for future challenges and opportunities in the field of economics.

 My time in Christ has been a large part of who I am today. The opportunities that the program offers give you a solid starting point to whatever path you choose down the lane. The flexibility with electives helped me explore diverse multidisciplinary areas, which really aided in identifying my interests in higher studies. The plethora of clubs and feasting opportunities pushed me out of my comfort zone to become more confident, a better communicator, and network with so many talented folks. The demanding act of balancing assignments, exams and extracurriculars really prepared me for the stress I faced ahead at my job. Christ teaches you the skill of managing your time better and picking your priorities. Best of all - here is where I found friendships that would last a lifetime - people who would stick by you no matter what. Your professors always have your back whenever you reach out to them at later points in your life - I am truly grateful to my mentors whose guidance I have always had. Our program’s alumni network is truly vast! Both my workplace and masters programs that I researched always had a bunch of people who were seniors from our program - ready to sit with you for a chat and help you out
