Philipp Sulim is the Head of the Theatre Studies Department at Christ University. He holds a Specialist in Arts degree from The University of Arts and Culture, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. His expertise includes acting, directing, and theatre pedagogy. Philipp has directed plays by renowned playwrights like Mario Fratti, Tennessee Williams, Henrik Ibsen, Anton Chekhov, Maxim Gorky, and Sophocles. His works have been recognized at international festivals such as Theatre Island in Saint-Petersburg, Theatre in Motion in Moscow, and IFTS in Thrissur. In 2023, he directed "Bear" by A. Chekhov at Christ University, Bangalore. In 2024, he directed "Antigone" by Sophocles, a unique adaptation incorporating immersive animations, 3D sound, and stage combat choreography. Philipp produced "Shim-Cheong", an adaptation of a Korean folk tale, performed in Korean. The production was staged in Bangalore and at Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai. He authored a chapter titled "Stanislavsky's Realism as a Relevant Mode of Artistic Production in Contemporary Post-Truth Art" in the book "The Post-Truth Era, Literature and Media."
