2 IMPACT OF INTERNET ON LEGAL RIGHTS -In the research topic for my Ph.D thesis I want to concentrate on the impact of the virtual world on the legal rights. Specifically I would like to focus on IPR, Freedom of Speech and Right to Privacy. Through my research I would like to highlight the positive and the negative impact of the internet has on these rights. As physical activities are slowly shifting to a more virtual platform, the need to protect rights of an online user is of critical importance. Due to the vast nature of the virtual world and a lack of territorial demarcation the protection of laws online dwindle . My thesis would like to tackle this problem while also concentrating on how rights like privacy and freedom of speech need to be harmonised online . The research would also make a comparison between 1st world countries like US and UK with India in how the laws operate and are implemented . This thesis would be extremely relevant in today's scenario because of the pandemic. REELIKA SINHA Christ University July 2021
