Music
The Music courses aspire to create a genuine interest and appreciation for western classical music (voice and piano) among students. It focuses on basics like theory of music as well as ear training and sight reading in the initial semester, and advances to core subjects like Harmony and Counterpoint in the later semesters. Courses offered also trace the evolution of classical music through various eras and exposes students to the use of music in various fields. In addition to this each student will also be majoring in voice/piano over the course of six semesters. The course maintains a good balance between theory and practical knowledge along with numerous opportunities for stage performances. Music as a subject itself goes much beyond just academics, and the programme is structured in a way to be able to contribute to each individual’s life and make a difference through music. Students will also enjoy the option of learning wind instruments as an open elective course."

Psychology
The psychology subject seeks to introduce the students to various psychological processes and familiarize them with different branches of psychology with a view to developing a holistic outlook towards life and prepare them for a great career ahead.

English Studies
Literature is an important cultural product of a society or a nation. Hence, the study of literature offers insights into the worldviews of different societies. This course begins with traditional British literature to the present. The course also introduces students to other literatures namely American world, postcolonial and also the Indian literature in translation. The course also introduces students to interdisciplinary studies in culture and gender helping them to gain insights from other disciplines like history, anthropology, sociology etc.

Programme Outcomes

Candidates falling under any of the below mentioned categories must apply under the International Student Category:

International students coming from Non-English speaking countries should:

produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination in English medium or
have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for

Intensive Certificate course in English Language (Full Time) conducted from March to May each year or
One Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.

Note: The International Student category fee structure is binding for the full duration of the programme and cannot be transferred /changed in between.

Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.

Candidates seeking admission through International Student category (Foreign Nationals/PIO/OCI) will have a separate application process, with the following options to apply for any programme at Christ University.

Students are welcome to apply under the Non Resident Indian category for the programmes offered by the University

Students who fall under any of the following classifications can apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the programme

1. NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law

2. Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.

3. Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.

4. Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India..

5. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;
5.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
5.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under NRI category

Admission to all programmes is based on academic achievement and CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Selection Process. Candidates should submit the final results of class 12 on or before August 30th of the admission year.

Applicants must read through the Selection process, Fee Structure and other details under the preferred programme given on our website before proceeding with the application process.

Selection process results will be available on https://app.christuniversity.in according to the Important Dates section. Selected candidates will receive an E-Offer of admission that will be valid up to the date mentioned in the Offer of admission.

All selected candidates must note that admission is provisional and subject to University rules.

Selected candidates must download the offer of admission on the ‘Application Status’ link on the University website.

To process admission

Candidates must choose the preferred date and time from available options to facilitate a smooth admission process.
Admission must be processed at the campus where the programme is offered as published in the offer of admission.
As per UGC guidelines, fee payment has to be made through online mode.
Payment options and details will be available in the Offer of admission.
Fees for the first year including the Admission Registration fee must be paid in full as part of the admission process.

To process admission (Online)

1. Apply as per guidelines stipulated to get the E-admit card.

2. The candidate is to record a video of themselves performing contrasting two pieces according to the following guidelines:

Candidates are to perform a minimum of two pieces of western traditional art music.
Candidates are to state the sentence "This recording is for my 2022 audition to BA-MPE at christ university. I will be performing [introduce your piece name and composer]"
If two separate recordings are made, this introductory sentence is to be repeated at the beginning of the second recording.
These pieces must be contrasting in styles (to display both technical and emotional abilities).
An individual piece is to be roughly 3-5 minutes in length as a minimum. No repeats within a piece are necessary.
The camera should be pointed in a way to show the performer (and piano keyboard if applying) clearly.
Ensure that the audio quality is sufficiently audible and that your audition is recorded in one take.
Please note that audition videos will be accepted. for voice or piano only.
Posture and technique will be considered when watching your video.
It is mandatory for the video to be sent before your interview, otherwise, your interview will be forfeited.

3. Once recorded, the candidate is to upload their video to either Google Drive or YouTube with access and/or external viewing enabled so faculty can watch the recording.

4. Candidate is to email a link to their recorded video to music.admissions@christuniversity.in by at least one day before the date of their interview.

5. During the interview with the department of music, each candidate will be asked to undertake some basic musical aural tests such as imitating rhythms and melodies; and will be interviewed based on their professionalism, attitude, academic and musical experiences.

All original marks cards and one set of photocopies must be submitted for verification at the time of admission as mentioned below

Class 10 Marks Statement and Class 11/12 Marks Statement (Mandatory).
Transfer Certificate (TC) of Class 12 from the last qualified institution must be submitted by 15 September 2022 (Mandatory).
Migration Certificate of Class 12 (applicable for all candidates except Karnataka state board applicants) must be submitted by 15 September 2022 (Mandatory).
One Stamp size and one passport size photograph formal dress with a white background (Mandatory).
Two Copies of the Online Payment Receipt (Mandatory).
Copy of valid ID proof (Aadhar Card / Aadhar Enrolment Receipt / PAN Card / Voter ID Card).
Candidates falling under any of these categories (NRI / PIO / OCI / SAARC / AFRICA / ASEAN / OTHER FOREIGN NATIONALS) have to submit:

Copy of Passport and Visa Details (Mandatory).
PIO / OCI have to produce a copy of the PIO / OCI card whichever is applicable (Mandatory).
Medical Fitness Certificate (MFC) from any recognized medical practitioner certified by the Medical Council of India and
Resident Permit (RP) (If available while applying)

If the candidate has undertaken any ABRSM, Trinity, AMEB examinations in performance or theory, their certificates are to be included.

All mandatory documents must be submitted for verification during the admission process.

An undertaking for pending original documents unavailable currently [applicable only for candidates writing/passing their exam in March – June - 2022], must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. These documents must be submitted on or before 15 September 2022.

Failure to submit the pending documents will be treated as unsuccessful in the qualifying examination or considered “Not Eligible”, and admission will be terminated from CHRIST (Deemed to be University) without any claim.
All admitted students must open an account at South Indian Bank, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Branch as part of the admission process and must carry relevant ID proof (Aadhar Card and Pan Card).
The University ID card is a smart card, which is both an ID cum ATM card with a chip containing the student personal details. All transactions within the University campus after the commencement of classes, including fee payment, will be processed only through this card. It is also an access card for Library and other restricted places.
Selected candidates who fall under International student category (ISC) should register with the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer (FRRO / FRO) of the Local Police in Bengaluru, India within 14 working days from the date of admission or arriving in Bengaluru.

The date of commencement of the academic Year 2022 will be intimated during the admission process.

Please Note:

The University does not collect any capitation/donation other than the fees mentioned on the website.
All those admitted to the programme will have to purchase a laptop at their own cost if required by the department.
Admitted students who wish to avail bank loan will be provided with a recommendation letter on request by presenting the original fee paid receipt to the Office of Admissions.
The decision of the admission committee is final and binding.

Programme Outcomes

Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) in any stream (Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Sciences) from any recognised Board in India.
Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2022 may apply with their class X and XI marks.

Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:

Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.
It is preferred that applicants to the MPE program have at least some experience in reading western notation.

# The fee for Karnataka domicile students, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.

It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for three years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.

1. NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).

2. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who;
2.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
2.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.

3. To claim the Indian / Karnataka category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India / Karnataka. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).

4. Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if applicable.

5. All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option:

Important Instructions

Read all Important Links (Eligibility, Documents requirements etc) thoroughly.
The date and time for the selection process are auto-generated by the system. Therefore, any request for changes will not be entertained.
A Google calendar invite will be sent to your registered email id, ONE day before the MP/PI selection process.
Candidates failing to appear for the selection process at the stipulated date and time will be considered as “Not Selected”.
Candidates must show the original Government recognized photo identity card (Aadhar card/Passport/Voter ID/Recent College ID card) for attending the online selection process. Failing which the application will be considered as “Not Selected”.
All original Class 10, Class 12, Degree Marks Card (Students pursuing their final year must have the statement of marks up to the previous semester/year) should be available for verification during the personal interview round.
It is recommended to login atleast 15mts before the scheduled time to avoid any last-minute technical glitches.
Impersonation or any suspicious behaviour (prompting by a third person or accessing notes/gadgets) will be treated as malpractice and the application will be termed as “Not Selected”.
The responsibility of satisfying the eligibility criteria for admission rests with the student/candidate. The issue of the E-Admit Card for the selection process does not imply that the eligibility criteria are satisfied.
