About

The department offers programs such as Bachelor of Technology, Master of Technology, and Doctor of Philosophy in the areas of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology. The department boasts a rich knowledge pool of faculty who are well trained in various fields like Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Cryptography, Data mining, BIG DATA, Digital Image Processing, Cloud computing, etc. The department also has a wide variety of labs such as the open source lab , Machine learning lab , CISCO Networking Lab which are specifically for students research and lab curriculum.
To ensure that students are up-to-date with trends and changes, the department periodically conducts workshops on the latest technology like Internet of Things, Cloud computing, and Machine learning for the students. The main goal is to prepare students for a career in industry or research in universities.

from the HOD

Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at CHRIST (Deemed to be University). Our department is an active, innovative, and dedicated educational platform that focuses on the development of the new generation technocrats.

In today’s ever changing world the role of computer science and engineering is crucial in introducing advancements in various fields. At CHRIST University we don’t just teach technical skills but we encourage critical thinking, innovation and ethical skills.

With this in mind, our curriculum has been well developed to meet these new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber security, Cloud computing, Computer Vision, AR/VR and the rest among being keenly incorporated in the market to produce key human resource solutions. To make benchmarking among community, the department employing and offering the state of the art laboratories, group and industry based works, internships and real time problem solving to inculcate practical knowledge in our students.

The department is also glad to have well qualified faculty members with academic experience as well as industrial experience. All of them are very passionate about their roles with students, academic research, and technology

Code 2021 which started from 7th June and ended on 23rd August in project titled “Interactive Book
Integration in Mobile”.

Albin Joseph 1867001, 4MTCS, from Dept of CSE, has proposed a project proposal under the 43rd student project program of KSCST (Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology) under the guidance of Dr. Manohar M and Mr. Mithun B N KSCST. The project was selected as one of the “Best projects of the year.”

DEWANG SUBIL 1961049, 4BTIT, from the Dept of Computer Science and Engineering, has performed a critical role in the adventurous rescue of 4 fishermen using drone camera who went missing in high seas off Nattika, Kerala who.

ABHISHEK S 1860486 5BTCS C Dept of CSE, from 1KAR AIR SQN NCC, was awarded the Rank of Cadet Warrant Officer from the Unit. The Pipping Ceremony was held on 11th September 2020 at the Unit, Jakkur Aerodrome. The Rank was given on various criteria, based on the participation in various National camps, Social awareness campaigns, Parade Attendance.

CISCO Networking Laboratory

This facility offered by Computer Science and Engineering department to promote students to equip themselves with cutting technologies in the field of networking. Currently this laboratory is offering Introduction to Networks, Routing and Switching Essentials, Scaling Networks, and Connecting Networks. The first 2 courses prepare for the Cisco CCENT certification exam or to study CCNA Security. All 4 courses are recommended before taking the Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching certification exam.

Machine Learning Laboratory

This facility is a specialized advance programming laboratory that has systems with CentOS installed. The laboratory has a Hadoop cluster set up with one name node and 4 data nodes. This laboratory was set up to give the students hands on experience of handling the Hadoop framework, Big Data and its analysis. The Students carry out projects on Distributed computing. They also learn to configure the Hadoop framework and customize it according to the project requirements. Students are able to analyze the efficiency of the application based on the data and various factors that influence the performance of processing the data.

IoT Laboratory

This facility offered by the department helps to ignite the minds of the young aspirants and also make them ready to solve multidisciplinary problems. This laboratory helps students to learn advanced data collection, connectivity and analysis of information collected by computers everywhere—taking the concepts of Machine-to-Machine communication farther than ever before. The Students will also get hands-on experience with industry oriented hardware’s and software’s like CDAC test beds, raspberry pi etc.

Red Hat Linux

Red Hat Academy signed MOU with CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and CSE department became Institutional Member of Red Hat Academy. The MoU helps the students to avail the resources and tools in the Open Source Software in Computer science educational arena. Around 15 students and faculty members of computer science and engineering department have completed their RHCSA course through Red Hat Academy. The Department is offering Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) and Red Hat System Administration II (RH134) as certificate courses.

This facility offered by Computer Science and Engineering department used for performing Descriptive analytics and Analytics Reporting in data analytics/ predictive analytics for inculcating research focus with student’s/research staff.
