The Department of Life Sciences had organized a guest lecture on Reproductive Health by Dr. Siri V, an Infertility specialist to brief the final year BCZ and CBZ students on the importance of reproductive health and the various associated complications. This talk was held on September 5, 2018, in Block II at the Panel Room, Block 2, Central Campus from 9am to 11am. The informatics session began with Prof. S. Ganesh, Professor, Dept of Life Sciences, introducing Dr. Siri who is a Gynecologist and holds a fellowship in Reproductive Medicine from Gunasheela Hospital. She has more than 10 years of experience in the field and currently works a consultant at Care IVF Centre, Jayanagar.

Dr. Siri then began her talk with an elaborate discussion about the male and female reproductive system and associated problems in either of the systems that could lead to infertility. She then went on to describe the latest technological advancements that help tackle these problems. The different available methods of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) like IVF, IUI, IVI, GIFT, ZIFT were highlighted mentioning the importance and drawback of each. Towards the end of the session Dr. Siri also described the need and method of usage for different types of contraceptives. The talk was then concluded with a query session after which Ms. Vaishnavi G., from 5BCZ presented the Vote of Thanks. To have an experienced personality, dig deeper into a topic that the students merely considered as a part of their curriculum, was definitely an enlightening experience. That being said, it was an honour to have Dr. Siri V conduct the informative session on Reproductive Health.
