Dr. Maxmillan Martins research explores climate and extreme weather's impact on livelihoods and the environment. He collaborates with artisanal fishers on Indias southwestern coast, focusing on safe and sustainable fishing practices. His work co-develops climate and weather insights with institutions like Cochin University of Science and Technology, India Meteorological Department, and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services. At the Department of Life Sciences, he teaches climate change and field methods. He also teaches media production at the Department of Media Studies. Dr. Martins academic journey includes a BSc in Life Sciences (Kerala), a diploma in journalism (Centre for Mass Media, New Delhi), a masters in development studies (Oxford), and a PhD in Geography (Sussex). He has taught at the University of Sussex and University College London and conducted research at the Institute of Development Studies, Brighton. His career includes working with charities on climate action and leading media teams in commercial and community news. Dr. Martin invites research collaborations, continuing his commitment to advancing knowledge in climate science and sustainable practices.
